    able or buffet with floating flowers, nuts, candies or other treats!!  This is a wonderful heavy bowl supporting a large thick swirled snail handle.  It will be one of your favorite pieces or a cherished and thoughtful gift.

    . It will come wrapped in its fine gray flannel Steuben bag and fine vintage Steuben box with Steuben care booklet.
    Note, this is the
    original hand signed hand made in USA at the Corning NY glassworks design
    of Steuben 10M formula glass
    .  It is not the re-introduction or off shore made piece from the Corning Museum gift shop.
    This thick heavy bowl measures approx. 5.5" wide by approx. 5" at it's tallest. It is signed "
    steuben
    " on the edge of the base bottom.  All authentic Steuben Olive Bowls are signed. (Other manufacturers copied this design.) NOTE this is the Olive Bowl with the thick snail handle, there are also several less expensive Steuben Ashtray designs that other's often list in error as Olive Bowls. Also note that having a Steuben box with an item does not mean it is a NEW item.
    Steuben was noted for their rigorous attention to detail and for the high quality of their glass. They stated in their literature that they did not market "seconds". In fact, they noted that such pieces were destroyed in house. Steuben Glass was founded by Frederick Carder in 1903 in the Fingerlakes Region of New York State. By following strict standards for design and manufacture they achieved recognition as the world's premier glassworks. Steuben Glass was frequently the gift of state by US Presidents to foreign dignitaries. Steuben, a recognized luxury brand. The famous glassworks closed in late 2011.  The Corning Museum is having reproductions of some designs made in Europe.  These are not hand signed and weigh much less than the originals.
