vintage 950 silver filigree star or flower pin brooch diameter 1.75"

Description

This is a star shaped pin made of very fine and delicate lacy filigree 950 silver, which is a higher content of silver than in sterling (925), and which was often used in older and/or European jewelry pieces. It is stamped "950" on the back (best seen in photo 5). Beautiful texturing and sculpting in this brooch, with some undulation in the petals. There is a slight bend in the pin stem and some looseness of the movement in the stem, also looseness in the way it fixes into the hook, but it does fasten properly (hook fastener, not the kind that rotates to lock closed). It stays closed with fabric in it when it is pinned to something, but the stem wobbles a bit in the hook when not attached to a garment for wearing. The diameter measures 1.75" across at the widest points and the pin weighs 5.7 grams. This is an older pin from an estate, but is overall in very good pre-owned condition.
